Do It Scared
Do it Scared Jeanne Gladden, Leadership Coach. Educator. Co-Founder.
Each time the sun rises, a new reality dawns on us. Each new day brings information that terrifies, news that we want to adamantly deny.
We review our evaporating calendars and our very white whiteboards. We post our brave messages. We make tough decisions. We sign up for more webinars. We provide for the safety of our employees. We take care of our families. We hunker down. Sure. We figure things out for a time, but it’s such a very short time.
Perhaps we’re wandering through the unspoken levels of grief. Denial. Then Anger. We begin to bargain our way to Acceptance just in time for a new wave of breaking news to hit as the grief cycle repeats on itself.
We get it. We’re with you. We’re afraid too. And, we will pull through this together. We will become better for the struggle. We will recreate ourselves and our organizations. We will find solutions to new and old problems. We will become leaner, smarter, and kinder. We will create breakthroughs and innovations. We will come together as never before. We Will.
Bravery doesn’t mean that we’re never afraid. It means that we feel the fear and we do what is ours to do today. We do it scared.
Whatever is yours to do, please keep doing it. Please focus on your work. Please continue to contribute to your community and the world in new, brave ways.
Job One. Lead ourselves. Job Two. Lead others. It’s always been this way. Some things do stay the same, after all.
