Your Brain on Change
Vertigo- a sudden internal or external spinning sensation. I’ve come to think of our times as a sort of perpetual vertigo, disorienting, even brain altering.
Not so long ago, we operated on reliable information and routine to guide our decisions and actions. Where now we have only questions. Each day is a quest of sorts, to figure things out.
Do we resume business as usual? Are we ready to rejoin the human race? Will our family and friends be okay? Do we spend, invest or save? Will our finances see us through all of this? Will there even be enough food and water? “And the beat goes on and on…. pounding new rhythms to our brain”. Even as we arrive at a place of acceptance, we’ve yet to see the path forward. We gain our footing, and Bam! A new wave of change rolls through.
It’s like we’re hiking along a foot trail, when the terrain abruptly transitions. The trail blurs. We scramble between sharp rocks. The altitude tricks our equilibrium. As we cautiously make our way, we come to a switchback. To go straight puts us in freefall. We have no choice but to breathe in, breathe out, hydrate and radically reorient.
Our brains prefer stability, predictability and clarity. Our brains want to know what’s next, the right way to move forward. If we are like most humans, we may find ourselves in Fight, Flight or Freeze.
How do we reorient ourselves and our teams? Now, more than ever, we are being called to a higher level of leadership. We are being called to reframe, reorient and recreate our reality. We must cultivate our resilience to become the leader our team needs now…the leader our family and community need now.
We stand at the switchback ready to help you reorient. We are your Leadership Lifeline. To schedule a free webinar, Your Brain on Change, or a free virtual 1-1 Breakthrough Conversation, please contact jeanne@thequalitycoach.com or mary@thequalitycoach.com
